you don’t have a medication deficiency (and why this is important)
medications can be life-saving tools—not here to demonize them! sometimes they actually do treat the cause. most of the time they don’t.
often they’ll worsen underlying causes, even if symptoms improve. even in this case, a med might still be the right temporary tool for you.
but! if we’re only using medications, we’re not addressing what’s causing the symptoms. why does this matter?
🌀the body sends us symptoms for a reason. in suppressing and ignoring symptoms, we’re missing the body’s message, which could be life-saving
🌀the underling cause might be setting the stage for other chronic diseases down the road
🌀it’s always deeper than you think. getting to the deeper roots of why we’re sick gives us opportunity for whole-person transformation and evolution.
🌀the longer we ignore symptoms, often the longer it will take to get well on the other end. when we suppress, the dis-ease is driven deeper—what comes in must go out. it’ll be a bigger release process.
these ideas come from basic naturopathic medicine philosophy. this medicine makes space for full-bodied, whole-hearted healing.
medications are an important tool in the naturopathic medicine toolbox, and they can be used judiciously when the pathology is severe enough that the use of medication limits the overall harm. unfortunately, the way medications are used in today’s medical model, they often inflict unintended harms. but it is possible to use medications safely in ways that support your health and move you toward healing, instead of further from it.
find a doctor who will use meds as tools on your path to whole healing, not just as symptom-suppressors.
